Connie Lamar Coleman, 69, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital surrounded by family. Connie's life was a testament to grace and resilience, and her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Connie was born on December 1, 1954 in Poplar Bluff. Connie had a strong faith in God and was of Baptist faith. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, her flower garden, traveling and loved spending time with her family. Connie retired in 2021 from Walmart with over 45 years of service. You may have seen her managing the jewelry department over the years or noticed her in a national Walmart Christmas commercial. Aside from her strong faith in God, Connie's most valued time was being with her family. She was a loving wife, sister and aunt to many. Aunt Connie was a name not only used by family but also friends of our family. Connie was a giver. She selflessly gave her time to others, whether it was lending an ear or a helping hand.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl (Dick) Eugene Coleman in 2002 and a cherished baby whom she never had the chance to meet. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Lamar Bishop and Neoma Elizabeth Bishop (Smothers) and a brother-in-law, Dana Mansbridge.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Carmilita Walker (Ronnie), Cathy Mansbridge and Cheryl Schalk (Kenny), as well as her loving brother, Vernon Bishop (Lisa). Nieces and Nephews: Shawn Daggett, Jennifer Lancaster (Gabe), Heather Rommel (Nick), Marah Heckman (Troy) and Tasha Hall (Brady). Great nieces and nephews: Hunter Herrold, Hope Morse, George, Thomas and Peter Lancaster, Makayla, Kayden, Jason and Trinity Rommel, Clara and Emma Heckman
Connie is survived by many in-laws from her Coleman family. Sister-in-law Mary Casey, nieces and nephews: Sonjia Estes, Michelle "Shelly" Witte, Joseph Casey II, Ricky Coppedge Sr, Ronnie Coleman II, Misty Koulianos, Christel Peters, Glenna Cozart, Brandy Simmons and Charlie Lindberg. Great nieces and nephews: Ricky Coppedge Jr, Dustin Coppedge, Melissa Coppedge, Kimberly Ashworth, Jason, Stuart and Tracey Witte, Matthew and Hannah Coleman, Anthony and Leo Koulianos, Peyton Peters, McKaylea and Trey Geiger, Anabelle, Logan and CJ Simmons, Luke and Mila Lindberg and many great great nieces and nephews.
Connie was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In the end, she found peace in the arms of Jesus, and while her presence will be greatly missed, she will be reunited with those who left before her and she will meet her baby. Her memory will live on and she will forever hold a piece of our hearts. Rest in peace, Aunt Connie.
