William W. Thies

William W. ""Bill"" Thies, Jr., 66, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center as the result of a two vehicle automobile accident.

Mr. Thies was born March 23, 1941, in Poplar Bluff to William W. and Laverne (Emerson) Thies, Sr. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Poplar Bluff as well as an active member of the church choir. Mr. Thies was the retired co-owner and operator of Thies Answering and Secretarial Service, in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and former member of the Hump Pilots Association. He enjoyed his church, helping people and traveling. While his wife was living he especially enjoyed traveling extensively with the Hump Pilots Association.

On May 30, 1963, he married Janet Maria Seib. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2003.

Survivors include his son, Michael Thies, of Cape Girardeau; mother, LaVerne Thies, of Poplar Bluff; sister, Linda Overstreet, of Fayette, and brother, Bob Thies, of Portageville.

A Prayer Service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday with visitation following until 6 p.m. at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Swalina officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
