William Larry Smith

William ‘Larry’ Smith, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Larry was born June 19, 1954, in Poplar Bluff to William L. and Doris Miller Smith. He was of the Catholic faith and had retired as a Conductor for Union Pacific Railroad.  Larry enjoyed playing on Pool and Bowling Leagues, watching drag racing and fishing.  His greatest joy was being with his family, his grandchildren, and his great grandson.

He married Rebecca L. ‘Becky’ Smith on June 5, 1982, in Poplar Bluff.  She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter Rachel Kennedy, two sons, Billy Smith and his wife Jenny and Justin Smith and his wife Rachael; 10 grandchildren, Allie Kennedy, Johnny Massa, Jayden Massa, Jackson Kennedy, Jennika Smith, Kayden Smith, Lane Smith, Joseph Smith, Emma Smith, and Jessie Smith; a great grandson Tevin Drake; and his mother Doris M. Smith.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, William L. Smith, and two brothers, Wayne Smith, and Glenn Smith.

Visitation will begin at 11 am Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.  The funeral service will follow at noon in the Chapel with Rev. John Harwell officiating.  Burial will take place at Liberty Cemetery, in Butler County.  Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hays, Scott Gouger, Keith Montgomery, Mark Yancy, Mike Johnson, Steve Taylor, and Mark Eason.
