William R. Jurls

William Roy Jurls, 65, of Poplar Bluff and former resident of southern Calif. died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at St. Louis University Hospital.

Mr. Jurls was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Poplar Bluff, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Marines serving from 1961 to 1967, and had retired after 25 years from Eddison Electric, in southern Calif. as a District Supervisor. Mr. Jurls enjoyed collecting coins, and watching country music videos.

Survivors include two daughters, Marci Hemphill, of Calif. and Vickie Wettloufer, of Fla.; two sons, Lee Jurls and Robbie Jurls, both of Calif.; his mother, Dorothy Nell (Arnold) Jurls, of Poplar Bluff; 6 grandsons; two sisters, Ruby Jean Vinson, of Poplar Bluff and Carol Sue Lawrence, of Broseley; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His father, Paul Raymond Jurls preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Don Mayo officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery, in Broseley.
