William F. ""Bill"" Emke, 92, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Greenbush, Mich., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at the Westwood Hills Healthcare Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Emke was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Detroit, Mich. to the late Charles and Cora (Preuss) Emke. He was of the Lutheran faith and a retired Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Emke was also a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II as a paratrooper. He enjoyed spending time with his family, refinishing antique furniture and reading.
On Aug. 14, 1948, he married Joyce Ellen Greco, in Detroit, Mich. She preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela ""Pam"" Emke, of Poplar Bluff and Sheri Emke, of Detroit, Mich.; 3 granddaughters, Samantha Emke, Sara Gentry and Nichole Hutchcraft; a grandson, Joel Hutchcraft and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Gentry; his sister, Cora Schram, of Lakeville, Mich.; 8 nieces and nephews, Bob Emke, Joyce Osborne, Bob Schram, Carol Vernier, Debbie Steyaert, Burton Basney, Marlene Lang and Martha Jean Greene; and many great nephews, great nieces and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held in Greenbush, Mich. at a later date.
