Walter ‘Little Walter’ E. Anderson, 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.
Walter, one of 14 children, was born March 20, 1940, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to his parents Andrew Jackson Anderson and Lily Mae (Burr) Anderson. He was a cab driver for City Cab for many years and was a musician. With music as his passion Walter started his own band, ‘Little Walter and the Country Boys’, where he played the drums. Walter loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, fishing, drag racing, and baseball.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sandy(Francis) Anderson of the home; two children, Carolyn Cowin and Geoff Anderson of Poplar Bluff; two stepchildren, Bryan Alexander, and Holly Autry; a brother, Jamie Anderson, also of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Walter was a ‘good ole boy’ and will be missed!
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters, five brothers, and the mother of his children, Dianna (Nations) Anderson.
Visitation will begin at 3 pm Monday, March 13, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 4 pm in the chapel with Pastor Chuck Clark officiating.
