Vernon Eugene Pemberton

Vernon Eugene Pemberton, 94, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away peacefully next to his wife, Monday, June 06, 2022.

Vernon was born on August 31, 1927, to Earl Marion and Maud Lillie (Baumgardner) Pemberton in Flat River, Missouri.  He married Ruth Evelyn (Mills) on May 26, 1979, in Poplar Bluff.

Vernon was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1946. He went on to become a member of the United States Army during the Korean War era. While serving in the Army, much of his time was spent stationed in Germany. Most of Vernon's working life, he was a pressman at Bluff City Printers until he retired in the late 80's. He loved woodworking and was extremely talented at making cabinets, display cases, chests, etc. He liked to read, especially old westerns. He was also an avid Cardinals Baseball Fan. He and Ruth would visit Branson, Missouri about twice a year if they were able.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Ruth Pemberton; two children, Anderson (Michelle) Corder and Sandra (Ben) Johnson; five grandchildren.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Francis Pauline Macom and Helen Pemberton; three brothers, Donald, Murl, and Charles Pemberton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 09, 2022, from 12:00-1:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO. Funeral will follow beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Curtis Crowley officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
