Verle Shuemate

Verle Roberta (Boyle) Hampton, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Oakdale Care Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Hampton was born May 9, 1920, in Campbell Hill, Ill. She was a past member of the Third Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hampton enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.

On Feb. 10, 1941 she married John Boyle. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1980. On Oct. 21, 1984, she married Charles Shumate. He preceded her in death. On Sept. 20, 1998, she married Jim Hampton. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2007.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ann Sconce, of Festus, Judy Pulliam, of Doniphan, Susan Hoover, of Poplar Bluff and Patricia Larimore, of Sullivan, Mo.; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Pieron, of Murphysboro, Ill, and Lois Allen, of Temple, Tex.; and a brother, Dale Downen, of House Springs.

A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery, in Campbell Hill, Ill.
