Veda Ruth Bristow, 88, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the
Mark Twain Caring Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Bristow, daughter of the late Lanson and Ethel Verle (Lindle) Phillips, was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Butler County. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff where she had been active in church activities and retired after 33 years from Stovall's and Roth's Department Store.
On Sept. 23, 1936, she married Richard Rowe Bristow. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1989.
A sister, Verle Hackenyos, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a brother, Lanson Phillips, Jr., of Doniphan; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs. Bristow.
Her sons, Ronald Bristow and Kenneth Bristow, three sisters, Alene Dickerson, Foneda Loftus and Emma Morse, a brother, George Phillips and a nephew, Bob Morse also preceded Mrs. Bristow in death.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Luther Abbott officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
