Truel Ellen Hammons, 85, of Arlington, Tex., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Friday, June 2, 2006, at the Autumn Leaves Nursing Center, in Arlington.
Mrs. Hammons was born May 5, 192 in Pine, Mo. to George and Mary Baumgardner. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and taught school in Michigan for many years. She had resided in Arlington for the past 25 years. Mrs. Hammons enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved pug dogs, Amos and Oscar and sewing, artwork, and painting.
On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Edmond Lee Hammons, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1993.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lee Stillwagon and husband David, of Simsbury, Conn.; her son, William George Hammons and wife Mary Beth, of Dearborn, Mich.; three grandchildren, Laura Anne McCarley, of Arlington, Benjamin Lee Stillwagon, of Euless, Tex., and William Travis Hammons, of Dearborn, Mich.; one great-granddaughter, Madison Anne McCarley, of Arlington; and her sister, Jewell Bodine, of Poplar Bluff.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodlawn Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
