Thurman ""Pete"" Selvidge, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Selvidge was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired after 30 years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Selvidge was a former POW and received a Purple Heart. He also worked at Sears Youth Center with Job Corps, and was a self-employed bulldozer operator. Mr. Selvidge was also a 55 year member of Poplar Bluff Masonic Lodge 209.
On Aug. 13, 1945 he married Ella M. ""Bobbie"" Selvidge, in Arkansas. She preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 2007.
Survivors include a son, Mark Preston Selvidge and wife Linda Sue, of Whitley City, Ky.; granddaughter, Rhiannon E. Selvidge, of Whitley City, Ky.; and sister, Helen Faye Selvidge, of Chicago, Ill.
His parents, Taylor and Amanda (Mauk) Selvidge, a sister, Thelma May Chronister and brothers John Selvidge and Howard Selvidge also preceded him in death.
A Masonic Service will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff with visitation following until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
