Symenzie Lee Murphy, 83, of Broseley, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Murphy, daughter of the late Monroe David and Sabrie (Vinson) Giles, was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Fargo, Ark. She was of the Methodist faith, and had retired from the Butler County Health Center as a Home Health Care Giver. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Willing Workers' Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, canning, sewing, needlepoint, quilting, fishing, reading, working puzzles, gardening, always helping other people and staying active.
On March 24, 1943, she married Leroy M. Murphy, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2005.
Survivors include five children, Carolyn Yvonne Murphy and Jeanette Kaye Murphy, both of Broseley, Janeane Faye Richard and husband Roosevelt, of Poplar Bluff, Alicia Deneane Murphy, of Baton Rouge, La. and Dennis Roy Murphy, of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Velma Murphy, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Angela Denise Murphy, of Los Angeles, Sarah Nichole Mitchell, of Broseley and Kevin Mitchell, of Broseley; and sister, Samanthia Hopkins, of Columbus, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. A private family graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morocco Cemetery, in Broseley with the Chester Murphy and Roosevelt Richard officiating.
