Stella Loraine (Barton) Joplin

Stella Loraine Barton-Joplin, 88, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Sunday, December 03, 2023, at The Manor after battling illness for several years.

Stella was born on September 20, 1935, to Abraham and Callie Cook in Hurricane, Virginia.  She married Billie Burnice Barton on May 11, 1957, also in Virginia.

Stella was a talented and passionate singer. She enjoyed creating and playing music with her son. Stella's motto was "life is beautiful." She was a strong believer of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; she was of the Pentecost faith. Stella was always willing to help others any way that she could. She loved to go dancing. She also had a great love for flowers, especially roses. Stella was a beautiful soul who enjoyed the simple things in life.

Stella is survived by her son, Billie Ray Barton; three daughters, Cathy Owens, Teresa Nye, and Judy McCormick; one very special canine sidekick, Cuddles.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billie Vernice Barton; three brothers and four sisters.

Stella will be laid to rest next to her husband, Billie B. Barton at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. No services to be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri.
