Stella Anthony Appleby

Stella Anthony Appleby, 90, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at The Cedargate, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Appleby was born May 7, 1917, in Wayne County. She was a member of Rombauer General Baptist Church, and had retired from Florsheim Shoe Co. Mrs. Appleby enjoyed attending her church and visiting with her friends.

On Jan. 27, 1944, she married George Anthony. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1977. In 1982, she married Aubrey Appleby. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1996.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Helen Greer and husband Jim and Wilma Cochran, all of Poplar Bluff; a niece, Alice England, of Portland, Oreg.; and a nephew, Joe Tune, also of Portland, Oreg.

Her parents, Thomas and Anna Tune and five brothers also preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery, in Butler County.
