Stanley “Stan” F. LaFond, was born in St. Anne, Illinois, to Wilbur “Bear” and Bernice (Koenig) LaFond on February 3, 1933. He joined his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
He went to school in St. Anne, Illinois before entering the Navy. After the Navy he was a machinist in Kankakee at Bradley machine with his dad, then moved on to office work. He spent most of his early years in Illinois, before moving to Missouri. He managed a hotel and cooked/managed restaurants while living in Missouri; as well as working at Reinell boats and working in medical records. Stan and his wife Mary sold Avon for many years.
He met the love of his life, Mary Tibbs LaFond (Parsons). They were married 40+ years before her passing. When they moved to the lake, they enjoyed fishing and going out on the pontoon. They also enjoyed visiting Branson yearly for Mary’s birthday and their anniversary.
Stan loved sharing his faith and the spreading the word of God with others. He prayed all his family would make heaven their home. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Wappapello Lakeland Assembly of God. There he performed many duties. Until his illness, he was cooking for the men meeting on Saturday mornings. He so enjoyed that. He also handled many office duties. Stan also loved his animals.
Stan was the oldest of 8 children. He is survived by one sister, Pam LaFond; one brother, Dan LaFond; Children, Marion (Sharon) Tibbs, Allen (Barbara) Tibbs, Darlene (Roger) Yancey, Ron Tibbs, and Sheena (Kit) Carson; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; three sisters, Shirley LaFond, Cheryl Stalnecker, and Cynthia Nicholson; two brothers, Jack and Richard LaFond and daughter-in-law, Paula Tibbs.
14 Grandchildren: Michelle (Doug) Bates, Brian (Lori) Tibbs, Kim (Scott) Evans, Stacey Newberry, Marsha (Matt) Lewis, Warren (Lauren) Yancey, Mark (Bethany) Tibbs, Jamie Kellerman, Becky (Randal) Lowe, Brent (Terrye) Cooper, Chris (Katie) Glass, Misty Hill, Kit Carson Jr and Sheryne (Jamie) Johnson; 32 Great-grandchildren: Kaylee (David) Hessling, Kelsey Williams, Lucas Tibbs, Tyson (Kailey) Tibbs, Tanner (Abby) Tibbs, Amber (DJ) Wiggins, Tyler Evans, Mallory and Madison Newberry, West and Charlotte Yancey, Mia and Miles Lewis, Amber (Kyle) Murray, Alexis (Paul) Pilgram, Addysen Tibbs, Hunter, Kaden and Addie Kellerman, Chloe, Kristen Jones, Alexis (Hudson) Cogswell, Hana (Nathan) Copeland, Jordan and Camryn Cooper, Luna Franks, Blade-Andre Johnson, Crystal Glass, Brayden, Rowan, Maggie and Willow Glass; 10 Great great grand-children: Kaydence, Jett and Lakelynn Hessling, Carter Williams, Teagan and Ava Murray, Gannon Evans, Ryker Rampani, and Brystol and Royce Elliot Copeland.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from 1:00-2:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. A funeral will follow beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will take place the following day, Monday, June 26, 2023, at 11:00am at Sparkman Cemetery.
