Shirley Ann Hayes, 64, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Hayes was born February 4, 1944 in Pocahontas, Ark. to the late Mager E. and Tula Mae (Cox) Helsel. She was a small business owner of a Bar and Grill. She was a member of the Calvary Community Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, flower gardening, camping, fishing, playing badminton, and using the computer.

In 1973 she was married to Cecil Junior Hayes and he preceded her in death in February, 1975.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Yantis of Marion, Ark., Pamela Stephens and husband Andrew of Qulin, and Dwayne Burkett and wife Jacquline of Qulin; eight grandchildren, Nicole Dover, Jamie Dover, Travis McCoin, James Wallace, Katherine Knapp, Joey Knapp, Austin Burkett and Brett Stephens; one great grandson, Patrick Brown; her longtime companion, Thomas McNeal of Poplar Bluff; and a sister-in-law, Edith Helsel of Poplar Bluff. Also surviving is her step-mother, Jean Helsel and children, Gary, Linda and Rita, all of Pocahontas, Ark.

Preceding Mrs. Hayes in death was one daughter, Paula Jo Dover on Feb. 12, 2007, a sister, Conna Jo Rogers on Aug. 1, 2000, and a brother, Ernest G. Helsel, Sr. on Aug. 29, 2001.
