Shelby Jean (Bearden) Gifford

Shelby Jean Gifford, 88, of Jefferson City, MO (formerly Poplar Bluff), passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center.

Shelby was born on November 11, 1936, to Lester and Virgie (Schales) in Evening Shade, Arkansas. She married Sidney Wayne Gifford on December 23, 1961, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Shelby went to work for the Department of Welfare as clerk stenographer and later worked for the US Forestry Service as office manager. She was a member of the Poplar Bluff Church of Christ and former member of the Rebekah Lodge, also of Poplar Bluff. Shelby enjoyed playing piano and singing, as well as spending time with family.

Shelby is survived by two brothers-in-law, Dr. Vernon Pete Gifford and James "Jim" (Pat) Gifford; one sister-in-law, Jane Gifford; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Shelby was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 02, 2025, from 12:00-1:00p at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00pm with Shelby’s nephew, Dr. Robert W. Vester officiating. Burial will take place at Three Springs Cemetery.
