Sandra "Sandy" Ann Hughey

It is with great sadness, but with boundless love and a lifetime of fond memories, that the family of Sandra Ann Hughey (Sandy) wish to announce her passing on January 5, 2024 at the age of 78 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was born on July 11, 1945 in Poplar Bluff to Floyd (Blue) Kester and Mary Kester, both of whom preceded her in death.

Sandy's loving and protective personality was well suited for her role as dedicated wife, mom, sister, Nana and friend. Her steadfast opinions and ability to tell a good story were well suited for her role as the Avon lady for 31 years. She took a great deal of satisfaction in cultivating those relationships and bringing beauty and sweet scents to her client/friends. But it wasn't all work and no play. Sandy loved getting lost on long country drives, visits to the local casinos, and the ever present scratch off tickets!

Sandy is survived by her amazing husband of 61 years, Jerry, sons Joe (Eve) and Jeff (Theresa), brother Jim (Sharon), and nephews Jared and Erik. Her grandsons Conor, Spencer, and Ethan were the absolute light of her life. Special friends Bill and Debbie DePew, along with Ray and Joyce Conner hold a cherished place in Sandy's life story.

The family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude to Crown Hospice and caregivers for their compassion and support.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate Sandy's life Wednesday, January 10th at Cotrell Willow Ridge in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Visitation 10-11 am with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Chaplain Callum Reavey officiating. The funeral home will assist the family during this difficult time.

Sandy will be remembered for her love, storytelling, and dedication to her family and career. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
