Rufus Eugene Turpin, 80, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Clinic.
Mr. Turpin was born July 14, 1927, in Crocker, Mo. He was a member of First Christian Church, and had retired as Chief Warrant Officer from the Missouri National Guard after 37 1/2 years of service. Mr. Turpin was also a veteran of the United States Navy, and was a member of National Riffle Association. He enjoyed being outdoors, and fishing and hunting.
On Aug. 30, 1948 he married Frances Malone, in Mt. Home, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Patricia Lynn Turpin, of Marietta, Ga. and Constance Marie Forest, of Olathe, Kans.; two sons, John Michael Turpin, of Poplar Bluff and Don Patrick Turpin, of Dexter; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Peggy Ruth Turpin, of Springfield.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
