Rufus Higgs

Rufus Higgs, Jr., 48, of Qulin, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at the Patterson Living Center, in Qulin.

Mr. Higgs was born Sept. 26, 1958, in Poplar Bluff. He was disabled and had resided at the Patterson Living Center, in Qulin for the past 11 years. Mr. Higgs attended Calvary Baptist Church, in Campbell and Fagus General Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sisters Anna Higgs and special friend Keith and Ethel Jordan and husband Andre, all of Poplar Bluff and Leatha Mason and husband Anthony, of Baldwin, Mo.; four brothers, Tommy Thomas and wife Janice, of Jacksonville, NC, Danny Higgs and wife Rhonda, of Hampton, Va., Larry Higgs, of Poplar Bluff and Sherman Higgs, and wife Neva, of Alton, Ill.; a special aunt, Joann Wilson, of St. Paul, Minn.; Clifford and Mary Patterson, his special caregivers at the Patterson Living Center; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His parents, Joyce Ann (Thomas) and Rufus Higgs, Sr. preceded Mr. Higgs in death.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel, with Pastor Gary Hancock officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
