Ruby Ellen Scott

Ruby Ellen Scott, 75, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Scott was born March 9, 1932, in West Plains, Mo. She was a member of Bluff City United Pentecostal Church, and had retired from the Gossard Clothing Factory after 31 years. Mrs. Scott later worked at Uncle Joe's Discount Store. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, cross-stitching, flower gardening and reading her Bible faithfully.

On Nov. 26, 1949, she married Grover Dalton Scott, in Piggott, Ark. He survives.

Other survivors include daughter, Sandra F. Richardson-Boyers and husband Melvin Boyers, of Dexter; sons, Dennis Dalton Scott, of Poplar Bluff and Gary L. Scott, of Toledo, Ohio; a granddaughter, Kelly-Ann Smith, of Denton, Tx.; four grandsons, Kurt Richardson, Daniel Scott, Brian Scott, all of Poplar Bluff and Christopher Scott, of Hurricane, West Virginia; three great-granddaughters, Blake N. Smith, of Denton, Tx., Madyson Ruth Scott, of Poplar Bluff and McKenna Reagan Scott, of Hurricane, West Virginia; three great-grandsons, Jacob W. Smith, of Denton, Tx, Kyle Ka'eo and Kody Kaiden Richardson, of Poplar Buff; sister, Etta Mae Daugherty, of Williamsville; and brothers, Ulysses William Freeman, of Bowling Green, Ky. and Samuel Posey Freeman, of Broseley.

Her parents, William Britton and Mable Clara (Surritte) Freeman, and brother, Henry Almond Freeman preceded Mrs. Scott in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 9 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at Bluff City United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Ted Elledge officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery, in Butler County.
