Rondal G. ""Ron"" Rose, 62, of Greenville, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Rose was born Feb. 1, 1944, in Calwin, West Virginia to the late Wilbur and Elizabeth (Muelle) Rose. He was of the Baptist faith and had retired in 1988 as a Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force after 26 years. During his tenure of service he was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oakleaf Clusters, an Air Force Commendation Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and a Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. A Mason for 40 years, Mr. Rose was Master of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #107. He was a member of the York Rite, of Poplar Bluff; the Grand Order Sword of Bunker Hill; a member of the Wayne County Aerie #4187and the Modern Day Vets; a life time member of the V.F.W. Post #3416 as well as a life time member of the D.A.V. Mr. Rose had also worked for Bluff City Garage Door. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, black powder rendezvous and making homemade soap, which he sold at craft shows.
On May 30, 1964, he married Christina ""Chris"" Martin, in Hayti, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Harriet Lee, of Salina, Kans. and Helen McClutchen, of Indiana; three brothers, Vince Harrison, of Akron, Ohio and Kenneth Nicholas and wife Barb and Steve Nicholas, all of Salina, Kans.; two brothers-in-laws, Bruce Martin and wife Sue, of St. Peters, Mo. and Bob Martin and wife Marilyn, of Wappapello; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A Masonic Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11:45 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, in Bloomfield.
