Ronald L. Collins, 70, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital, in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Collins, the son of the late Amos and Helen (Schultz) Collins, was born April 23, 1935, in St. Louis. A retired Meat Supervisor, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, where he served as treasurer of the Pastors' Sunday School Class. Mr. Collins was an avid basketball fan of the Three Rivers Community College Raiders, the Poplar Bluff Mules, the Doniphan Donettes, and an avid supporter of AAU Basketball. He was also a member of the TRCC Raiders Booster Club, as well as a Little League Basketball coach. Mr. Collins also served in the Missouri National Guard.
On Dec. 26, 1953, he married Joyce Jeanette Meadows, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other Survivors include two daughters, Kathi Gullett and husband Phillip, and Karen Emmons and husband Ron, all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren Erika Smith and husband Brad, Vanessa Emmons, Madison Gullett and Collin Gullett; and one sister, Ruth Ann Priest, of Clearwater, FL.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church, with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
