Robert A. Pinkston, 85, of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Pinkston was born July 10, 1921, in Lauratown, Ark., to the late Wesley and Eva Christena (Ayers) Pinkston. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a retired contractor with Pinkston Excavating Co. Mr. Pinkston was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II and a member of the Amvets Lodge, in Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed spending time with his family, farming and excavating.
On July 27, 1947, he married Ruth Haulum, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Bob Pinkston and wife Kathryn and Stanley Pinkston and wife Carol, all of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Stacie Pinkston, Kara Baker and husband Kelly and Elaine Pinkston; three great-grandchildren, Avery Pinkston, Tyler Moore and Kaylen Baker; and his brother, Harrison Pinkston, of Durand, Ill.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pinkston was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Ann Pinkston and a grandson Rylee Pinkston.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Dr. Steven Williams officiating. A graveside committal service with full military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Lawrence Memorial Park, in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
