Richard Minetree

Richard ""Dick"" Minetree, Jr., 78, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Minetree was born July 12, 1929 in Poplar Bluff to the late Richard and Ruth (Esther) Minetree, Sr. He was a retired teacher at the Poplar Bluff Junior and Senior Schools and also taught for over 20 years at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Minetree was a member of the New Life Christian Church. He had served on the board of the Poplar Bluff Public Library and was a member of the Poplar Bluff Historical Society. He volunteered for many years at the United Gospel Rescue Mission. He was one of the original board members of the Claudia Foundation. Mr. Minetree was a veteran of the Air Force.

Surviving are two brothers, Dr. Thomas A. Minetree and wife Virginia of Carbondale, Colorado and Harry H. Minetree and wife Judith of Poplar Bluff; 6 nieces, Ruth Minetree, Elizabeth Jett, Virginia Minetree, Malisa Minetree Hicks, Judy Minetree, Nikki Minetree Dill; 6 nephews, Harry Minetree, Jr., Thomas Minetree II, Lee Minetree, Andrew Minetree, Hugh Minetree, Garner Minetree and many great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church on Main St. with the Rev. Morris Ball officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.

The family request memorials may be made to the New Life Christian Church, The Poplar Bluff Public Library or the United Gospel Rescue Mission.
