On July 1, 2007 Raymond Lloyd Hawn, a loving father and grandfather went home to his Heavenly Father.
Raymond was born July 19, 1943, in St. Louis to Sherman Raymond Haggett and Josephine (Bright) Haggett, who both passed away when he was young. At the age of twelve he was adopted by his stepfather, Irvin Hawn. In 1961, he joined the Navy and proudly served his country for 21 years, serving two terms in the Vietnam War. He was an active member of Grace Christian Fellowship, in Poplar Bluff, a standing member of the Lion's Club International, in Lowndes and an active member of the AMVETS. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and loved talking to people and telling stories.
On Feb. 3, 1967, he married Joann Louise Hawn, in Long Beach. Calif. and was happily married for 31 years. She went home to be with the Lord in April of 1998.
Raymond is survived by his two daughters, Rebecka Hawn and Michelle DeGaris and son-in-law Chris DeGaris, all of Poplar Bluff; three beautiful granddaughters, Stephanie Hawn, Annalise DeGaris and Stephanie DeGaris, all of Poplar Bluff; and all of the extended DeGaris family; and his special friend, Becca Stewart, of Lowndes.
Visitation will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Brian Sharp officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Rockwell Cemetery, in Wayne County.
