Phyllis Marie (Essary) Bush

Phyllis Marie Essary Bush, 74, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, at her home in Poplar Bluff.

Phyllis was born on August 6, 1947, to Otis and Christine (Clark) Essary in Poplar Bluff. She married Larry Lee Bush on July 12, 1979, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Phyllis grew up in Poplar Bluff, where she enjoyed playing sports on the side of the house with her brothers, and “kick the can” under the streetlight with the neighborhood kids. Phyllis attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, and then Poplar Bluff High School, graduating in 1965. She continued her education at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, graduating in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies. Phyllis had a successful career with the State of Oklahoma, Social Security Division, and then the Social Security Administration. Most importantly, she was a loving wife and mother. She will be dearly missed.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Larry Bush; two daughters, Amy (Kevin) Bernal and Erin (Joe) Andrew; one sister, Laura Hinchey; three brothers, Joe, Pat, and Mike Essary; along with countless other family and friends.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary, Claire, and Rita; two brothers, Jim, and Clyde.

No services will be held, at Phyllis’s request.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crown Hospice.
