Pearl M. Thomas, 89, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 at her residence.
Mrs. Thomas was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Broseley. She was a member of the New Home General Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Quilting Club. Mrs. Thomas had retired as a teacher for the Fisk schools and as a self-employed bookkeeper as well. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
On Dec. 30, 1939, she married Delbert Thomas, in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1985.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Essary, of Poplar Bluff; three sons, D. L. Thomas and Donald Thomas, both of Poplar Bluff and Gary Thomas, of Wappapello; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Hager, of Harviell; and a brother, Louis Hester, of Poplar Bluff.
A Rebekah Service will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff with the visitation following. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
