Patricia Lynn (Davison) Renard

January 16, 1949 — October 28, 2022

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Patricia Lynn (Davison) Renard passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, in Chaffee, Missouri. She was born on January 16, 1949, in Arbyrd, MO to H. Eldon Davison and L. Virgina Wood.

Pat is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Richard) Browne and Annette (Geronimo Avila Trujillo) Renard; two sisters, Kathleen (Linuel) Hedspeth and Leona (Michael) Davison-Kearbey; one brother, James (Vicki) Davison; three grandchildren, Aiyana Williams, Isaiah Davis, and Eli Avila Renard; along with numerous other beloved cousins, family, and friends.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Jada Browne; uncle, Roy Davison.

Pat attended Black Creek Grade School and was baptized in Cane Creek into membership at Black Creek Church.

Pat graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1967. She was an award- winning 4H member, President, Secretary and State Convention Delegate for Future Homemakers of America, Girls Athletic Association member, Future Teachers of America member, and treasurer and member of the National Honor Society.

During her time at SEMO, she was active in the Baptist Student Union and BSU choir.

She went on to teach home economics at Marquand High School for two years before moving to Cape Central High School in 1973. She taught at Cape Public Schools until her retirement in 2003. During her time with Cape Schools, she was cheerleading sponsor, Pep Club sponsor, and supported her love of the theater by creating costumes for both Red Dagger productions and the famous Mr. Dumey CJHS musicals. She created and implemented the Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum at LJ Schultz School.

As a mother, Pat made sure her daughters experienced a wide variety of activities. She shuttled them to swim team, soccer, ice skating, piano lessons, and Girl Scouts meetings. Not to mention shuttling as many of their friends as she could legally fit inside the Pontiac Wagon to the mall, to games, and to each other’s houses. She expanded her daughters’ horizons by exposing them to cultural events and plays, to theater and travel.

After “retiring”, she worked for Hancock Fabrics, as a student-teacher observer for SEMO, and did alterations for the cleaners and for many cherished customers who became like family over the years.

She was active in many clubs and associations, including Professional Home Economists Club, Missouri State Teachers Association, and Home Extension Club. She was co-leader of Girl Scout Troop #268 and continued to be actively involved in fundraising and volunteering for Girl Scouts long after her daughters were adults. She was also a Boy Scout Personal Finance Merit Badge Counselor.

When she wasn’t sewing or volunteering, she was traveling. From Mexico to Scotland to China to New Zealand to the Galapagos Islands and all over the USA, she photographed every meal. She loved music, theater, and musicals and attended many concerts of varied genres over the years. Her favorites were Aiyana’s choir concerts and operas. She also loved sports and was often found cheering on her St Louis Cardinals or at a SEMO Redhawks basketball game. She was Isaiah’s biggest fan; toting a stat book to every game. She enjoyed visiting the Botanical Gardens and the Magic House with Eli and was always in awe of his curious mind.

Pat was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and enjoyed playing piano and singing for her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, teacher, friend, and community supporter with a servant’s heart leading her way. While we are rejoicing in her reunion with loved ones gone before and her complete restoration after struggling with Alzheimer’s for many years, she will be greatly missed. She would tell us to watch out for that caffeinated water, love your loved ones with all you have, and go make some memories!
