Pansy Ross

Pansy Ross, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Ross was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Qulin, Mo. She was a member of First Christian Church, in Poplar Bluff, and was a member of the Royal Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Ross along with her late husband, Jesse J. Ross, owned and operated Ross Grocery as well as Ross Block and Tile Co., which she continued to operate after his death. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, sewing and sitting on her front porch watching people go by.

Survivors include her daughter, Marietta Ross, of St. Clair and son Joseph Owen Ross, and grandsons, Anthony Joseph Ross, Jesse Tyler Ross and Dakota Wayne Ross,; and a son, James R. Ross and his wife Sandra Rose ""Sonnie"" Ross, of Poplar Bluff and their daughters, Shannon Rose Minnich and Susan Rose Schalk, and grandchildren, Kayleigh and Laine Schalk.

Her parents, Tom and Cedalia Swafford, two brothers, Joe Swafford and Hoover Swafford, three half brothers, Charlie Ethridge, Roy Ethridge and Mott Ethridge; and a special friend, John Crow preceded her in death,

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel with Dr. Steven Williams officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
