Odis Lynn Lewis

Odis Lynn Lewis, 88, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away on August 1, 2024, at his home in the loving arms of his wife. Odis was born February 25, 1936, in Stoddard County, Missouri, to Jeff Lewis and Gertie Lewis Whitledge. He graduated from Advance High School, class of 1954. Odis married Vonita Ann Leirer on November 12, 1955, in Corinth, MS.  Odis and Ann were faithful members at the Puxico Church of Christ and Green Forest Church of Christ for many years.

He owned Bloomfield Filling Station, 1958-1961, worked at National Life, 1961-1964, Liberty Loan, 1964-1974, Commerce Bank, 1974-1990, First Missouri State Bank, 1990-retirement 1998, and worked part-time farming for many years.  He and Ann had lots of enjoyable years traveling the United States. Last week he was planning his next vacation.  This week he has gone to his favorite spot, his heavenly home.

Odis Lewis is preceded in death by his father, Jeff Lewis; mother, Gertie Lewis Whitledge; daughter, Linda Lewis; daughter-in-law, Teresa Lewis; granddaughter, Amanda Braden; father-in-law, Clifton Leirer; mother-in-law, Louis Leirer; step-father, Ray Whitledge; brother, Herbert Lewis; brother, Roy Lewis; sister, Jeanette Patterson, and many other sister-and-brother-in-laws.

Odis Lewis is survived by his wife, Vonita Ann Lewis; son, Richard Lewis; son, Gerald Lewis; daughter, Ladina Braden; grandchildren, Justin (Emily) Braden, Kiley (Anthony) Lewis, Natasha (Zach) Sentell, Caleb (Erin) Braden; Bryce (Arlene) Braden; Shayla (Lina Dee) Castillo, Gera Lewis, and 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; sister-in-law, Dot Lewis; brother-in-law, Hollis Patterson; sister-in-law, Dora (Carol) Bailey; sister-in-law, Pat Wilcox; brother-in-law, Richard Wayne (Terri) Leirer; step-sister-in-laws, Joel Guilling, Joan O’Dell, Judy; and many nephews and nieces along with many friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from time 12:00 – 2:00 at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 with Pastor Mitchell Rogers of Green Forest Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
