Nora Lou Whitlock

August 28, 1930 — November 9, 2006

Nora Lou Whitlock, 76, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 at her residence.

Mrs. Whitlock was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Swifton, Ark. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church; a retired riverboat and restaurant cook; a member of the Eagles Lodge; a member of the AmVets Post 141; a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6477 and the American Legion Post 630; and a volunteer at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. Mrs. Whitlock enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

On Sept. 28, 1945, she married Paul R. Williams. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1999. In April of 1978, she married Grover Whitlock. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1985.

Survivors include 7 children, Garrie Hoffman and husband Rock, of Great Falls, Montana, Jerry Williams and wife Lavetta, of Louisville, Ky., Betty Schafer, of Poplar Bluff, Mary Bickel and husband Mark, of Irrigon, Oreg., Terry Williams and wife Annabelle, of Poplar Bluff, K.L. Williams, of Swifton, Ark., and Daniel Kara and wife Carol, of Qulin; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Magaline King, Arkadelphia, Ark.

Her parents Clead and Icciemae (Davis) Gosha; son, Charles Robert Kara, Jr., and sister, Vernie Williams also preceded Mrs. Whitlock in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel, with the Rev. Everett Gunter officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
