Michael Floyd Holifield

Michael Floyd Holifield, 81, of Poplar Bluffed passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Michael was born May 6, 1939, to Floyd Jesse and Valasta Charlotte (Grider) Holifield in St. Louis, MO.  He married Barbara Jo Wood on February 19, 1960.  She preceded him in death July 19, 2019.

Michael was a member of numerous clubs and affiliations.  To mention a few; he was a member of the Poplar Bluff Masonic Lodge #209, the NRA, a former member of the Poplar Bluff Parks Department, Freedom of Road Riders Club, and the Poplar Bluff Gun Club. He played an instrumental role in the building of the Poplar Bluff City Pool as well as helping to establish the Vendetta Motorcycle Club in Doniphan.  He was also known for his role in helping to drive Girl Scouts to various activities for years and was made an honorary Girl Scout.

Michael is survived by four daughters, Lisa Salyer of Poplar Bluff, Michelle Holifield of Bloomfield, Natalie Sullivan of Poplar Bluff and Jessika Wyatt of Marion, IL; a brother, Eric Holifield of Pangburn, AR; eleven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Michael was preceded in death by a son, Michael Floyd Holifield Jr. and a sister, Patricia Holifield.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
