Melkery Miller
Melkery Miller, 92, of Poplar Bluff died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Golden Living Center, in Malden.
Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 21, 1915 in Cotton Plant, Ark. to the late Mandy White and Ben Lasley. She was a past member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff where she had been active in mission work. Mrs. Miller was also well known for her wonderful singing and devotional leading. She had retired from the housekeeping department of Doctor's Hospital, in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Miller enjoyed cooking, quilting and needle point.
In 1929, she was married to Robert Miller. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by three sisters, Ophelia Porter, Mary Lou Fields and Nellie Mae Jackson, three brothers, Joseph Lasley, Thomas Lasley and Aaron Ore, and a nephew, Roy Fields.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Chapel, with Pastor Elder Quincy Keeble, Sr. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
