Melda Kathryn Prenzel

Melda Kathryn Prenzel, 93, of Poplar Bluff passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Prenzel was born July 24, 1914, in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Little Brown General Baptist Church, and operated ""Granny's Day Care"" for over 20 years before retiring in 1981. Mrs. Prenzel enjoyed quilting, embroidering, going to church, cooking large meals for her family, and sending cards to family and friends. She resided at Westwood Hills Healthcare since January 2005.

On June 29, 1935, she married Chris R. Prenzel. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Marietta Ward and husband Darrell, of Springfield and Linda Faith and husband Garry, of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Herman Prenzel and wife Betty, of Poplar Bluff and Edward Prenzel and wife Aline, of Bradley, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Lowe, of Monticello, Ind.; and brother, Abbie Davis, of Poplar Bluff.

Preceding her in death were a son, Alfred Prenzel on Jan. 10, 1994; granddaughter, Regina Teague on Jan. 14, 2005; and great-grandson, Thomas Pruitt on July 15, 2007.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with her great-grandsons, the Rev. Ben Walker officiating and Ryan Walker assisting. Burial will be at City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
