Mary Jean (Brown) Wiseman

Poplar Bluff, MO

Jean Wiseman passed away on August 3rd, 2022, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on September 27th, 1932, to Asa Ray and Alma Brown in Lebanon Missouri. Jean graduated from Lebanon High School in 1950.

Jean was married to Alex Wiseman on March 25th, 1960, at Temple Israel in St. Louis, Missouri. He proceeded her in death in 2002. She was of the Jewish faith. To this union, two sons were born, David Wiseman of Mesa, Arizona, and Greg Wiseman (Kimberly) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was blessed with three grandchildren who were the light of her life, Emily Beth, Alex, and Elleanna Wiseman.

In addition to her husband, she was proceeded in death by her parents and five siblings.

Jean moved to Poplar Bluff in 1952 to pursue an opportunity to work at the Western Union office in Poplar Bluff. As chance would have it, Alex would have lunch at Joe’s Emporium most days, which was across the street from the Western Union office. He kept seeing a red-headed girl across the way, and he finally worked up the courage to ask her for a date. They cherished their time together and were very proud of the family they made.

Jean enjoyed reading, mysteries, and novels, and passed that love onto her children and grandchildren. She also much enjoyed playing cards with her friends, gardening, and watching golf on television.

A private graveside service will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation to the Poplar Bluff Public Library.
