Mary J. Shane

April 21, 1932 — January 27, 2008

Mary J. Shane, 75, of Poplar Bluff passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Shane was born April 21, 1932, in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church, and had retired as an L.P.N. from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. Mrs. Shane was an avid doll collector, and enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bingo.

On March 11, 1972, she married Robert Shane. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2006.

Survivors include two children, Carolyn Kearbey and husband Richard and Frank Seesengood and wife Rita, all of Poplar Bluff; two step-children, Nita Bales and husband Jim, of Houstonia, Mo. and Robert Shane II and wife Annette, of Sedalia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Tim Vanderburg and wife Shanna, Steve Hanners, Amy Folsom and husband Darek, Jeff Seesengood, Jessica Ensz and husband Sean, Cara Moulton and husband Andy, Bobby Shane III, Britney Bales, Cameron Bales, Tia Shane, Paul Gardner and Morgan Byerly; 10 great-grandchildren, Abby Vanderburg, Morgan Hanners, Lucas Hanners, Rayni Seesengood, Rylan Seesengood, Remmie Seesengood, Taylor Folsom, Tori Folsom, Ty Folsom and Makenzie Moulton; 3 sisters, Julia Pennington, of Poplar Bluff, Fern Kimes, of Chandler, Ariz., and Frances White and husband Ray, of Deming, NM; 3 nieces raised as sisters, Cora Pennington and Shirley Phelps, both of Poplar Bluff and Betty Murray and husband James, of St. Charles, Mo.; and 2 brothers, Ted Jaco, of Poplar Bluff and Glen Jaco and wife Gerda, of Payson, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Her parents, Arthur and Cora (Purdom) Jaco, sisters, Bertha Whitmer, Opal Carpenter and Ruby Hickey and brother, Jewell Jaco also preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Terry Pruitt officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
