Mary Louise Martin, 82, of Doniphan, MO, passed away on May 05, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mary was born on January 21, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was raised by her mother, Virginia Dorcas Kidwell and stepfather, Gerald Dee Merrill. She married James Samuel Martin on June 30, 1961, in Mesa, Arizona.
Mary, a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Poplar Bluff, has left a lasting impact on her community. Her unwavering commitment to service and her warm spirit touched the lives of many.
Throughout her life, Mary selflessly served in various callings within the church. As a dedicated teacher in Sunday School, Primary, and Seminary, she shared her knowledge and faith with countless individuals. She also served in the Chicago Temple, contributing to the spiritual growth of others. Her faith knew no boundaries, and she embraced opportunities to uplift those around her.
She was renowned for her meticulously crafted cards, adorned with stickers for every occasion. Whether it was a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, Mary’s thoughtful cards brought joy to all and reflected her caring nature.
Above all, Mary cherished her family and friends. She spoke highly of them, celebrating their achievements and supporting them through life’s challenges.
Mary is survived by son, James M. (Kelly) Martin; sister, Kay Olson; brother, Jerry (Pam) Merrill; four grandchildren, Jessica (Anthony) Magner, James (Miranda) Martin, Joshua (Mackenzie) Martin, and Joseph Martin; great-grand daughter, Idella Martin; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James S. Martin; two sisters, Karen Williams, and Yvonne Bonjovi (Merrill); granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Martin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 10:30-11:30 am at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 11:30am. Burial will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
