Mary Louise Hayes, 88, of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Hayes, the daughter of the late Manuel Lee and May Alene (Tune) Collins, was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Hendrickson. She was an active member of the Hamtown Community Church for over 50 years and a homemaker, Mrs. Hayes enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and quilting, sewing, gardening and growing flowers.
On Oct. 14, 1939, she married Emmett Hayes. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1985.
Other survivors include her daughter Carol Ann Russo, of Poplar Bluff; 9 grandchildren Kay Alford, Lori Jackson, Scott Hayes, Cindy Price, Robin Mitchum, Melissa Robinson, Lisa Diecker, Kimberly Arbogast and Mary Ann Russo; 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Letha Freer, of Poplar Bluff.
Also preceding Mrs. Hayes in death were a daughter, Barbara Jean Karnes in Aug. 1995; two sons, Franklin M. Hayes, in Dec. 1999 and Robert Hayes, in Jan. 1986; and a son-in-law, John Russo in Aug. 2001.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Terry Scott officiating. Burial will be at the Hamtown Cemetery, in Butler County.
