Mary M. Darby, 78, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Darby was born June 25, 1929, in New Madrid County, Mo. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with her family and embroidering and quilting.
In 1950, she married William Daniel Darby. He preceded her in death in 1964.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia Vaughn, of Memphis, Tenn. and Fran Fiske and husband Joe, of Poplar Bluff; five sons, Tony Darby and wife Terry, of Portageville, George Darby and wife Rose, of Lemoore, Calif. Harry Darby and wife Judy, of Jonesboro, Ark., Joe Darby, of Bakersfield, Calif. and Sam Darby, of Memphis, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren, Cindy Jones and husband Jeff, David Vaughn, Heidi Fiske, Ben Fiske, William Darby, Carla Forrester and husband Brad, Stephanie Gooch and husband Brad, Aaron Darby, Justin Darby, Trenton Darby, Rebecca Darby, Amanda Darby, Amy Darby, Daniel Darby, Michelle Darby, Courtney Darby, Casey Darby, Tambra Darby and Christina Darby; 18 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Alvin Metz, of Dexter and Frank Metz, of Paragould, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her parents, James E. and Laura A. (Bascum) Metz, son, Daniel Benton Darby, sister, Georgia Martin and six brothers, Darrell Metz, Claude Metz, John Metz, Ernest Metz and Ray Metz and Clarence Metz also preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff with Dorothy Collard officiating.
