Mary Etta Childress

Mary Etta Childress, 89, of Poplar Bluff, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Cedargate Care Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Childress was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Mill Springs, Mo. to the late John H. and Stella (Dykeman) Warren. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and a homemaker. A sports enthusiast, Mrs. Childress enjoyed attending all her children's and grandchildren's sports activities. She also enjoyed working in her yard and attending gospel singings.

On Sept. 5, 1936, she married M. E. Childress. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Childress and wife Barbara and Jack Childress and wife Linda, all of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Christa Albright, Larry Childress, Jr., and Scott Childress; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Albright, Trent Albright, Scotty Childress and Hunter Childress; six step-grandchildren; and her brother, Billy L., Warren, of Poplar Bluff.

Three sisters and six brothers also preceded Mrs. Childress in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel, with the Rev. Todd Allen officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
