Marie Rose (Meadley) Nichols

Marie Rose Nichols, 81, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Marie was born on June 25, 1942, in Puxico, Missouri and raised by George and Cordella (Meadley) Fouts. She married Charles "Chuck" Nichols on July 8, 1989, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Marie was of the Baptist faith. She and her family previously attended church at Little Vine in Broseley, Missouri. Marie enjoyed singing and listening to music, especially bluegrass. She and several family members formed a small band that traveled around the area in the 70's. They even recorded several of their own cassette tapes. Marie worked for Smiley Container for 32 years until they closed. Marie was a talented gardener, cook, and seamstress. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her husband, Chuck Nichols; two children, Mike Landis and Karen (Danny) Weaver; stepson, Heath Nichols; three brothers, Donnie, Leroy, and Sonny Fouts; one sister, Betty Ann Willard; three grandchildren, Joey (Chelsea) Weaver, Josh (Tiffany) Weaver, and Einsley Nichols; five great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Camber, Axl, Uriah, and Ava; special canine companion, Chloe; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Fouts.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 11:00-12:00p at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at Noon with officiating by Pastor Jim Schremp. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
