Margaret E. O'Connor, 89, of Poplar Bluff, died September 8, 2006 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. O'Connor enjoyed good health until suffering a stroke August 15, 2006. She was born January 29, 1917 in Poplar Bluff to the late Ed and Margaret (Cowell) Black, and was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She and her husband Tom, had been active participants in the Knights of Columbus until Tom's failing health in July 2006. Mrs. O'Connor enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and working crossword puzzles.
In 1944 she was married to Victor O'Connor and he preceded her in death in 1987. In May 2001 she married Thomas ""Tom"" O'Connor, Sr. and he survives.
Also surviving are 6 children, Victoria Sisk and husband Larry of Northeast, Maryland; Daniel O'Connor of Santa Monica, Calif.; Roger O'Connor and wife Alice of St. Louis; James O'Connor and wife Brenda of Poplar Bluff; Mary Dorris and husband Bill of Poplar Bluff and Kevin O'Connor and wife Ann Marie of Poplar Bluff; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Eva Black of Poplar Bluff. A daughter, Karen Sheeks preceded Mrs. O'Connor in death in 1993; also a brother Ed Black and two sisters, Alice Montgomery and Kate Griffie also preceded Mrs. O'Connor in death.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the visitation following. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Kyle Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
