Loy Ralph Doggett, 85, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Doggett was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Sedgewickville, Mo. He had retired as a laborer with the Bob Baldwill Pallet Co., and was a veteran of the United States Navy. While serving his country Mr. Doggett received the National Defense Service Medal, a Korean Service Ribbon (Three Stars), a United Nations Service Medal and a Navy Occupational Service Medal (European & Asia Clasp). Mr. Doggett enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and woodworking.
On March 7, 1967, he married Dorathea Timmermann, in St. Louis. She survives.
Other survivors include five children, Pat Horton and Steve L. Doggett, of Poplar Bluff, Ralph C. Doggett, of El Paso, Tex., Robert L. Doggett, of St. Louis and Bill R. Doggett, of Springfield, Ill.; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Bristow, of Kennett.
Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. Monday at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, in Bloomfield.
