Leonard Gene Hooker

Leonard Gene Hooker, 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday Jan. 28, 2022, at his home.

Gene was born on April 8, 1939, to Paul Haywood and Ruby Jewell (Jackson) Hooker, in Risco, Missouri.  He married Linda Lee Worley on Aug. 18, 1957, in Poplar Bluff.

Gene worked in insurance sales and later retired as Accounts Manager for Kneibert Clinic in Poplar Bluff.  He was active in the community and was Past President of Poplar Bluff Jaycees. Gene was an avid outdoorsman and deer hunter and enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, square dancing, and bowling.  The times he treasured most were times spent with his family.

Gene is survived by his wife. Linda, of the home; three children, Tammy (Jackson) Bostic of Poplar Bluff, Teresa (N’Ray) Campbell of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and LaDonna (Kenneth) Moore of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren, Lorie (Stephen) Matthews of Wichita, Kansas, Sonja (Tyler) Berry of Kansas City, Missouri, Clayton (Christy) Moore, Heather (Kevin) Hatch and Stephanie (Garrett) Hendrix all of Poplar Bluff, Missouri;10 great-grandchildren, Hunter Aud (Alyssa Kirkley) and Gavin Aud of Poplar Bluff, Jordan Berry, Addyson Berry and Noah Berry all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jackson Rains, Mackenzie Moore, Clara Hatch, Charles Hatch and Laci Hendrix  also all of Poplar Bluff; six brother and sisters, Donald (Oly) Hooker of California, Carter (Glenda) Hooker of Millington, Tennessee, Linda (Richard) Wacker of St. Louis, Missouri, Carol (Don) Ainley of Poplar Bluff, Wilma (Mack) Powers of Murphy, Texas, and Gary (Vicki) Hooker of Poplar Bluff; and the precious family pet Patches.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Jewell Hooker.

Visitation will begin at 1 PM Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 2 pm. with Chaplain Bill Hatch officiating.  Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
