Lawrence Elbert Yarbro, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis.
Mr. Yarbro was born Aug. 19, 1923, in Ridgely, Tenn. He was a retired farmer, and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. Mr. Yarbro enjoyed life, taking long walks and sightseeing.
In 1944, he married Malvina Mae Coble. She preceded him in death on July 29, 1978.
Survivors include three sons, Bruce Yarbro and wife Loretta, Ronald Yarbro and wife Glenda and Richard Yarbro, all of Poplar Bluff; six grandchildren, Brian Yarbro and wife Holly and Christopher Yarbro and wife Krista, all of Poplar Bluff, Cindy Patterson and husband Eric, of Broseley, Dr. Samantha McNail and husband Clay, of Farmington, Amy Parker and husband Charlie, of North Attleboro, Mass. and Amanda Yarbro, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; five great-grandchildren, Morgan and Lily Yarbro, of Poplar Bluff, Hannah and Thomas Patterson, of Broseley and Caden McNail, of Farmington; a sister, LaNelle Shelby, of Sacramento, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
His parents, Solen and Vera (Shaw) Yarbro and three brothers, Arville Yarbro, Clint Yarbro and Jack Yarbro also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with the Rev. Wendy Downing officiating. Burial will be at Qulin Cemetery.
