Kaye Beth Sparkman, 63, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Kaye was born on June 4, 1958, to Ross and Reba (Carman) Marion in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Gary Sparkman on December 14, 1991, in Harrisonville, Arkansas.
Kaye was an unsung hometown hero, sponsoring and supporting many veteran community events. She retired from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center. She was the President of the American Legion Auxiliary and chairperson of the local Veterans Council. Kaye organized the Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies held at the Black River Coliseum every year. Kaye worked tirelessly and selflessly to help any veteran in need.
Kaye is survived by her husband, Gary; her mother, Reba; one stepson, Matthew Sparkman; one brother, Ross Kent Marion.
Kaye was preceded in death by her father, Ross.
A graveside committal service will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 10:00am at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Pastor Charlie Pratt officiating. Pallbearers will be Dan Gholson, Dan Vantrova, Ryan Smith, Dave Marler, Larry Evans and Phillip Barker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Care and Share or the Homeless Fund through the local VA hospital.
