Katherine And Floyd Findlay

Katherine (Katie) Knott Findlay passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2021, in Poplar Bluff and her husband Floyd William Findlay passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Findlay was born April 15, 1932, in Butler County. Her parents were Harold John and Ethel Loraine Club Knott.

Katherine married Floyd W. Findlay on April 14, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Katherine graduated Poplar Bluff High School in the class of 1950 and St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She worked as an RN at Shriner’s Hospital for crippled children in St. Louis; St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis; Jewish Hospital in St. Louis; and Christian Hospital Northwest, Florissant, Missouri.

Katherine was an active member of the Poplar Bluff Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Genealogical Society of Butler County, and the Missouri Star Quilters. She was a Silver Haired Legislator for the Southeast District for 20 years. She belonged to the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, making quilt tops, traveling and being with her husband.

Mrs. Findlay and her husband were caretakers of the city hall flower bed for many years.

She is survived her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Richard Kohler of Houston, Texas; sister, Georgia Fiske; and several nieces; grandnieces; nephews and grand nephews.

Her parents and a brother John William (Bill) Knott predeceased Katherine.

Floyd Findlay

Mr. Findlay was born Sept. 29, 1929, at St. Louis. His parents were James and Grace (Pilcher) Findlay. Katherine married Floyd W. Findlay on April 14, 1956, in St. Louis.

Floyd worked at McDonnel Douglas for over 30 years. He was a Korean War Veteran.

He is survived a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Richard Kohler of Houston, Texas; and several nieces; grandnieces; nephews and grand nephews.

Katherine and Floyd Findlay will be laid to rest in the Veteran’s Cemetery at Bloomfield, Missouri, Nov. 23, 2021, at 11 a.m. with a double inurnment, with Floyd receiving full military honors.
