Junie Lee Mayes (Nixon) Pitt

Junie Lee (Mayes) Pitt, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021.

Junie was born on June 19, 1946, to Robert and Almalee (Hert) Nixon in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  She married John Howard Mayes Sr. on November 15, 1963, in Butler County Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1983. She then married Robert "Bob" Pitt on December 8, 1989, in Viburnum, Missouri. He survives.

Junie was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the local Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, and listening to music, but her greatest joys in life were her beloved grandkids and great grandkids.

Junie is survived by her husband, Bob Pitt of the home; six children, John Howard Mayes Jr., Diane Lee Stratton, Stacy (Rodger) Pitt, Steve Pitt, Robyn Pryor, and Regina Miller; fourteen grandchildren, Stephanie Stratton, Matthew Stratton, Shayna Moore, Alyssa Hargrave, Brandon Pitt, Stacy Pitt, Jasmine Alexander, Jai Pryor, Montana Roundtree, Savannah Miller, Madison Miller, Robert Pitt III, Jewell Pitt, and Adam Pitt; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In addition to her first husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Noel E. Nixon, and two sisters, Wanda M. Mayo and Dorothy N. Nixon.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 12:00-1:00 pm at Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel, followed by funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. Pastor Gene Hensley and her grandson the Rev. Brandon Pitt will be officiating. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.  MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED DURING ALL SERVICES.
