Judith "Judy" Annette (Faries) Mcallister

Judith Annette McAllister, 59, of Puxico, MO passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Judy was born on August 31, 1964, to Billy and Janice ( Berrong) Faries in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She married Billy McAllister on June 7, 1986, in New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello, Missouri.

Judy was a member of Duck Creek Baptist Church. She graduated from Puxico High School in 1982. She attended college at Southeast Missouri State University, as well as Arkansas State University for her master’s degree. Judy went on to become a special education and at-risk teacher for 37 years. She taught for Puxico R-8 School District for 23 of those years. Judy was considered a "teacher's teacher" and yet was always the student's favorite, which said a lot about her. Judy loved to go to the river house and spend time on Current River with her best friend, Angie Meade. She liked to crochet in her spare time and get all the lovins from her grand dogs. She enjoyed singing and goofing around. Judy was an incredibly caring person. She always supported and encouraged her students and those around her. To know Judy was to love her. She was one of a kind and will truly be missed.

Judy is survived by her husband, Billy McAllister; one daughter, AnaLee (Aaron) McAllister Jones; sister, Terri Worley; brother, Brad Faries; special nephew whom she considered a son, Colt Faries, other nephews, Brandon Faries and Rodney, Patrick, Matthew, Tim, and Kyle McAllister; one niece, Chandra Dijkman; along with numerous extended family members and many many friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Janice Faries; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Lavada Faries; maternal grandparents, Lowell and Christine Berrong; three brothers-in-law, Gary Worley, Herschel Lee McAllister Jr., and Willis Gene McAllister.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00am at Duck Creek Baptist Church in Puxico, Missouri, with Dr. Daniel Dunivan and Johnny Gipson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Judy McAllister Memorial Scholarship Fund.
